Joby Aviation says it has notched another major milestone on the path to type certification for its five-seat eVTOL air taxi vehicle.

The FAA conducted an in-person, multi-day day audit of Joby’s eVTOL at the company’s facilities in Marina, California, to complete the second of four systems reviews required for its type certification program. 

The company and school will prepare the next generation of engineers and maintenance technicians for what Joby calls "the electric age of flight."

The mobile facility will be used to determine how to optimize the experience of passengers traveling in eVTOL aircraft, as well as to demonstrate the operating concept to stakeholders around the U.S., including members of the public.

Joby has signed an expansion to its contract with the U.S. Air Force’s Agility Prime program, increasing its potential value by $45 million.
