Australian electric aviation group FlyOne has signed a letter of intent with Germany’s MD Aircraft for 10 of the MDA1 eViator aircraft. FlyOne, which is entirely separate from the Moldovan low-cost airline of the same name, appears to have plans to deploy the nine-passenger eViators for on-demand charter services.
The Western Australia-based group has also expressed interest in operating multiple other in-development electric aircraft, including the Chinese AutoFlight eVTOL model and the Bye Aerospace eFlyer. It already operates Pipistrel's certified Electro two-seater for flight training.
“By combining advanced aircraft and propulsion technology with FlyOnE’s operational experience, infrastructure and established market channels, we believe we can accelerate the transition towards cleaner, more efficient general aviation,” said FlyOnE CEO and founder Korum Ellis.&nbsp;
According to MD Aircraft, the twin-engine, high-wing MDA1 will have a projected range of 400 kilometers (216 nm) with a standard battery-electric propulsion system. In November 2025, the company said it was looking to close a Series A <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/air-transport/2025-11-06/md-aircraft-seeks-series-funding-electric-regional-airliner">funding round</a>: looking to secure €5 million ($5.8 million in fresh capital) which would unlock a further $13.3 million in government funding.&nbsp;
In September 2024, MD Aircraft said it was aiming to have a flying technology demonstrator by 2027, which type certification and deliveries by 2030. Although it is now hoping to conduct initial test flights in 2028, its certification expectations remain unchanged.
Other pre-orders for the conceptual MDA1 signed this year include the UAE’s Wings Capital Management and Sri Lanka’s Blue Skies Aviation Solutions. South Korean leasing group Solyu Company also signalled its intent for up to 40 units in June 2026. Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/air-transport/2025-11-06/md-aircraft-seeks-series-funding-electric-regional-airliner">Fly Greenway</a> - a cross-border initiative involving Swedish and Norwegian stakeholders – also signed a deal to collaborate with MD Aircraft.
