She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

The FAA is proposing to establish a Special Air Traffic Rules (SATR) area imposing certain operating procedures around the former Palm Beach International Airport—recently renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport (KDJT).&nbsp;
Requested by the U.S. Secret Service “in the interest of national security,” the proposal would call for operators to meet certain operating requirements to fly in the affected area. These include remaining in compliance with restrictions in notams when active temporary flight restrictions (TFR) are in place.
When there is not an active TFR, aircraft would be required to have an active IFR or VFR flight plan with an approved instrument approach procedure, an air traffic control (ATC) assigned departure procedure, or radar vector for departure. Aircraft also would be required to remain in two-way radio communication with ATC, receive an ATC authorization to enter the airspace, and transmit a discrete transponder code assigned by ATC.
The rules would permit certain operations to transit the area if they remain in two-way radio communication with ATC, have received an ATC authorization to enter the airspace, and transmit a discrete transponder code assigned by ATC. These operations include military aircraft supporting the Secret Service or the Office of the President, active law enforcement flights, firefighting, air ambulance, or others authorized by ATC for safety of flight or safety of persons and property on the ground.&nbsp;
This proposal follows restrictions that began in September 2025 through TFRs at the Secret Service's request. The Secret Service followed with a request for a permanent flight restriction around the nearby Mar-a-Lago Club from the surface up to 1,000 feet agl “to ensure the safety and security” of President Trump, saying the request stems from “adverse threat intelligence.”
Last October, the FAA issued a special security instruction flight restriction in the vicinity of Palm Beach, Florida. Under the flight restriction, only aircraft authorized by ATC are permitted to operate in the airspace and must follow a series of procedures. That was considered an interim solution that would be supplanted by an SATR area.
