A business aviation artificial intelligence (AI) agent named Skyler demonstrated its capabilities by joining Tuvoli president and CEO Greg Johnson and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University College of Business dean Joe Gibney in a live keynote presentation this morning at the AI Symposium for Business Aviation at the university’s Daytona Beach, Florida campus. Asked by Johnson what the industry most misunderstands about the technology, Skyler said, “Many believe that AI is just another software feature,” adding that AI “doesn’t replace humans.”
Johnson said he hopes the inaugural event, co-hosted by Tuvoli, ERAU, and NATA, will help attendees—aircraft operators, technology experts, college students, and others—embrace what is coming and influence what comes next for AI in business aviation. Gibney added that students from ERAU and other universities were specifically included because “they don’t know what isn’t possible” and thus will push boundaries to shape AI.
According to Skyler, air charter sales will change the most quickly as AI takes more hold within the business aviation landscape. It cited AI’s ability to find charter crew and aircraft availability, find and resolve conflicts, and perform other tasks.
Skyler emphasized the human role in oversight of AI. “Never let AI make the final decision, especially on [aviation] safety, legality, and customer trust. Listen, question, and challenge” AI outputs, it concluded.
