A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Pilatus has begun construction on a new customer delivery center at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC) in Broomfield, Colorado. The building will enable customers from all over the U.S.—the Swiss airframer’s top market—to configure and personalize their PC-12 turboprop singles or PC-24 light jets.&nbsp;Additionally, Pilatus will expand its existing engineering and passenger seat processing capabilities for the growing fleet.
With sustainability a key element of the project and a core value for the OEM, the structure was designed to achieve LEED Gold certification and will feature photovoltaic panels to harness solar energy, reflecting the company’s commitment to responsible growth and environmentally conscious operations.
“This new facility with an investment of $50 million will allow Pilatus to expand local engineering capabilities by creating more than 50 new, highly paid jobs,” said Pilatus Group CEO Markus Bucher. “Together, these functions will support Pilatus’ continued commitment to quality, innovation, and Swiss craftsmanship while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.”&nbsp;
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were company senior leadership and representatives from Jefferson County government and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport, as well as local and regional stakeholders.
At the beginning of the year, Pilatus consolidated its U.S. subsidiaries into a single entity, Pilatus Aircraft USA, harmonizing its systems across all American operations with approximately 400 employees. In addition to its Colorado headquarters, the U.S. arm also has locations in Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia.
