Matt Thurber, editor-in-chief at AIN Media Group, has been flying since 1975 and writing about aviation since 1978 and now has the best job in the world, running editorial operations for Aviation International News, Business Jet Traveler, and FutureFlight.aero. Fractional-share aircraft provider NetJets has made GE Aerospace’s FlightPulse app available to pilots to monitor their performance as derived from the GE flight data monitoring (FDM) program that NetJets uses. The app is available to the more than 4,400 NetJets pilots in the U.S. and Europe.
Pilots typically don’t have direct or rapid access to FDM or flight operational quality assurance information, and FlightPulse quickly shows each pilot their individual results and compares them to averages according to specific aircraft types. A typical day gathers data from 2.5 million flights.
