A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Signature Aviation has completed the first phase of redevelopment at its FBO at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (KSAV) in Georgia. The construction project included a terminal similar in size to the former 5,000-sq-ft building that was demolished. It includes a passenger lobby with a refreshment bar, crew lounge, and conference room, as well as an electric vehicle charging station directly in front of the building.
Additionally, the 18-month project included a 22,000-sq-ft hangar that can accommodate the latest ultra-long-range business jets, giving the FBO its first bulk storage facility.&nbsp;A second phase slated for completion in 2027 will add a 40,000-sq-ft hangar and more ramp space, and will also expand the terminal by 7,800 sq ft.
“The first phase of the reimagined Signature Savannah captures the charm of the city and blends it with a welcoming environment where our team members can deliver the one-of-a-kind guest hospitality the area is known for,” said Derek DeCross, the company’s chief commercial officer. “The amenities we are unveiling now and planned additions in the future will elevate the experience and create exceptional moments for our guests traveling through this historic area.”
In Savannah, the fastest growing port on the East and Gulf Coasts, the new terminal’s location will provide quick and easy access to downtown and nearby commercial hubs, according to Signature.
