A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Among the accolades handed out at AIN’s inaugural FBO Awards at the conclusion of NBAA’s Schedulers &amp; Dispatchers Conference in New Orleans were the FBO Sustainability Award and the Commitment to Progress Award.
The Sustainability Award recognizes an FBO that demonstrates outstanding environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
Co-winner California-based Clay Lacy Aviation has embraced sustainability across its entire operation, ranging from offering continuous supplies of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its FBOs and operating 100% of ground equipment on renewable fuel to using compostable coffee cups. It has earned sustainability honors from NATA, NBAA, 4Air, and the Los Angeles Green Business program.
Atlantic Aviation has implemented a broad spectrum of initiatives across its entire chain to reduce its environmental footprint and promote responsible aviation practices. The company offers SAF at nine of its locations and has developed a book-and-claim system that allows customers to purchase SAF benefits throughout its entire network. In addition, it has invested in energy-efficient technologies, resulting in a 55% reduction in energy consumption.
Lastly, Sheltair at Florida’s Melbourne Orlando International Airport (KMLB) was the recipient of this year’s Commitment to Progress Award, which honors the FBO that achieved the largest increase in its score year-to-year in the AIN FBO Survey. A Sheltair property since 2021, the company has been steadily upgrading the facility, bringing it in line with the network's standards.
