A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Stewart International Airport (KSWF) in New York’s Hudson River Valley is eagerly anticipating a major wave of private aviation infrastructure development.&nbsp;Owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) and located 60 miles north of New York City, KSWF is set to receive a private aviation complex from Sky Harbour, the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2024-06-10/sky-harbour-inks-washington-dc-hangar-development-deal">rapidly expanding</a> developer of turnkey hangar facilities.
PANYNJ recently voted to authorize a 45-year lease to the company for a 12.5-acre development, which is slated to add 200,000 sq ft of hangar space to a tight aircraft shelter market along with a 20,000-gallon fuel farm catering to its tenant aircraft.&nbsp;The $60 million project should break ground by second quarter 2025, with anticipated completion in late 2026.
“This is fantastic news and a significant investment, which will create over 250 high-paying jobs,” Paul Quartararo, chairman of the Stewart Airport Commission, told AIN. “As both Teterboro and Westchester County are maxed out, Stewart Airport is becoming the alternative location for constructing corporate jet hangars and FBOs.” &nbsp;
With regard to FBOs, Signature Aviation is expected to announce it will finally break ground on a long-anticipated FBO complex at KSWF, to include a 6,000-sq-ft terminal and 40,000-sq-ft hangar. The company, which has operated at KSWF since 2016, could begin construction on the new facility by year-end.
