When Pilatus Aircraft arrived in Geneva for EBACE earlier this week, the order book for its in-development PC-24 utility twinjet was empty, yet to be opened. It left the show, which closed today, with the first three years of production sold out (through the end of 2019).


In all, the Swiss aircraft manufacturer took orders for 84 of its utility business jets since opening the order book on Tuesday. All PC-24 delivery positions planned between the start of deliveries in 2017 and the end of 2019 are backed by binding contracts and non-refundable deposits, Pilatus said.


The aircraft manufacturer likely would have sold more PC-24s at EBACE, if not for its “deliberate decision not to accept orders for deliveries from 2020 or afterwards,” Pilatus said. Instead, it will “wait until a later date to announce plans for the opening of the order books for PC-24 deliveries from 2020.”


According to Pilatus chairman Oscar Schwenk, “EBACE 2014 delivered an incredible vote of confidence in Pilatus and our new business jet. Customers who opted for the PC-24 include both prestigious fleet operators and individuals of international stature such as Peter Brabeck, chairman of the board of Nestlé–to name just one.”


The first PC-24 will be rolled out at Pilatus’s headquarters in Stans on August 1.
