Charles Alcock is managing editor of the AIN Media Group, having rejoined the company in 2019. He has been an aviation journalist since 1986, and previously worked for AIN from 1990 to 2017, most recently as editor-in-chief. His main focus is on covering new aviation technology and business models, as well as international news.
Having been raised in the London area, Alcock studied at the University of Manchester in the UK and earned an honors degree in Politics and Modern History. He speaks English and French, and some German.

The British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA) is looking for a new chief executive to replace Guy Lachlan, who will be leaving the organization to pursue an opportunity outside aviation. The recruitment process began last month and shortlisted candidates will be called for interview beginning late this month until a suitable applicant is found.
BBGA has more than 160 member companies and represents a business and general aviation industry that is estimated to generate more than $5.3 billion for the UK economy. It is affiliated with the European Business Aviation Association and works closely with the Brussels-based group in lobbying efforts.
Lachlan gave three months’ notice of his departure on March 25 and will remain in the office until June 25. However, he has told the BBGA board of directors and chairman David Antrobus that he can continue to assist the association beyond this on an ad hoc basis, until the new chief executive is established. 
The chief executive is responsible to the BBGA Council. He or she is supported by a small but experienced permanent staff, as well as by specialist committees staffed by volunteers from member companies.
BBGA members include general aviation aircraft manufacturers, a wide variety of aircraft operators, maintenance and training organizations, FBOs, aircraft sales companies, as well as firms offering services such as finance, insurance and legal support. The association is based in Brill, which is almost 60 miles northwest of central London.
The industry group is looking to find a candidate with strong communications skills who can present complex cases to government officials and regulatory authorities. It would be an advantage if the chief executive holds a professional aviation qualification, such as a pilot or engineering license, or a relevant degree or post-graduate qualification.
BBGA also serves as the coordinating office for the European Council of General Aviation Support, which brings together GA groups from across the continent. The association lobbies at both a national UK level and with institutions such as the European Commission and the European Aviation Safety Agency.
The position of chief executive is full-time, but the BBGA board might consider a flexible working arrangement for the right candidate.
