Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada has signed a nearly five-year maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) agreement with Emerald Airlines covering the PW127M engines that power the Irish carrier’s ATR 72-600 turboprops, the RTX subsidiary announced Tuesday at the Farnborough International Airshow.
Under the contract, which runs through 2030, engine work will be performed primarily at Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada’s Singapore facility—the company’s global hub for MRO front-line service for turboprop engines—with supplemental support from its Montreal operation.
“We worked with Emerald Airlines to develop a customized and inclusive solution that will optimize their future engine maintenance costs [and] deliver dependable performance and dispatch availability,” said Anthony Rossi, v-p of customer service at Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada. He added that the deal reflects the engine maker’s broader push to expand its MRO capacity.
Emerald Airlines chief operating officer Richard Spencer said the program provides “long-term certainty across our fleet,” citing predictable costs and operational planning benefits for the exclusive operator of the Aer Lingus Regional network. He noted that the agreement’s structure “aligns with the needs of our aircraft lessors, ensuring the right balance of performance, reliability, and asset value over time.”
According to Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada, the PW100 engine family burns 25% to 40% less fuel—with a corresponding cut in CO2 emissions—than similar-sized regional jets on routes of 350 miles or less. The engines are certified to run on blends of up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
