Gregory Polek has spent his entire career in aviation journalism with AIN, starting as a proofreader and assistant to then-managing editor Mary Mahoney in 1995 after serving an internship with&nbsp;New Jersey Monthly&nbsp;magazine and completing his B.A. degree in English/Writing at New Jersey’s William Paterson College. By 1997 Polek accepted a position as an associate editor, covering the regional airline beat for&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;in place of retiring industry veteran Don Anderson. The assignment took Polek across North America and Europe to profile regional airlines varying in size and mission from the likes of floatplane operators Kenmore Air and Chalk’s Ocean Airways to regional jet operators such as SkyWest and American Eagle. Today, in his dual role as Air Transport Editor and International Airshow Editor, Polek writes, edits, and manages AIN’s commercial aviation content while overseeing each of the company’s daily international air show publications in Paris, Farnborough, Singapore, and Dubai. Most recently Polek has assumed oversight of daily coverage of the Helicopter Association International’s annual Heli-Expo convention.

Embraer and SkyWest Airlines announced at the Regional Airline Association convention on Tuesday that they have reached a 12-year component management service agreement by which Embraer will provide support for the carrier’s entire fleet of E175s. The agreement includes more than 160 repairable part numbers, covering 21 ATA (Air Transport Association) chapters of the SkyWest Airlines E175 fleet.


Embraer also signed a 10-year contract with the airline to provide the Ahead-Pro system. Ahead-Pro appears as a so-called e-Solutions web-based platform on the FlyEmbraer website, which serves as a single connecting point for Embraer’s customers to find a digital portfolio of services at any time, for any device. Embraer developed the system to continuously monitor the status of the E-Jets aircraft in real time, maximizing aircraft flight time and minimizing unnecessary operating costs and delays through preventive and corrective maintenance. Embraer now provides support for more than 30 airlines worldwide. The company claims its service results in significant savings in repair and inventory carrying costs and a reduction in required warehousing space, virtually eliminating the need for resources required for repair management, and ultimately, guaranteeing performance levels.
