Avidyne received FAA certification for its Vantage 12 Flight Display System retrofit for Cirrus aircraft, with initial deliveries and installations now underway for more than 4,000 Entegra-equipped and pre-Entegra SR20/22 series aircraft.
The system features dual 12-inch LCD touchscreen displays serving as primary flight display (PFD) and multifunction display (MFD), offering significant improvements in display size, brightness, and processor performance compared to legacy systems. Key capabilities include 3D synthetic vision technology displaying terrain, traffic, obstacles, airports, and flight plan overlays, along with a hybrid touch interface combining touchscreen and traditional knobs and buttons.
“Vantage 12 is now certified and initial deliveries and customer installations are in process,” said Dan Schwinn, Avidyne’s CEO. “While modernizing their flight deck with great new features, current Entegra users will find the Vantage 12 system very familiar to operate in terms of ease of use, with a minimal transition learning curve.”
Each display incorporates an integrated attitude reference sensor, providing dual-redundant input to the DFC90 digital autopilot system. This configuration enables the MFD to replicate PFD functionality and maintains autopilot operation in case of PFD failure.
Avidyne designed the upgrade as a modular system, allowing customers to implement changes in stages—beginning with DFC90 autopilot, then adding IFDs, and finally Vantage displays—or complete installation simultaneously. The company’s EZ Install Kit reduces aircraft downtime by minimizing installation complexity during the transition from Entegra to Vantage 12 displays.
