A former Wisk Aero software engineering manager is suing California-based eVTOL developer Wisk and parent company Boeing in Santa Clara County Superior Court, alleging that she was fired for reporting that the company’s autonomous air taxi software failed basic aviation safety testing requirements. Briahna O’Neill, the plaintiff, led software integration for the four-passenger eVTOL aircraft’s vehicle management system, the software that controls its flight and navigation. |

Supersonic business jet developer Spike Aerospace hailed last week’s release of the FAA notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) on supersonic flight over land as taking a step closer to making such operations a reality. The NPRM, Spike added, marked the “first significant modernization of U.S. regulations governing civil supersonic flight in more than 50 years” and “represents meaningful progress toward a vision that has guided our company since its founding.” |

SkyDrive says its SD-05 eVTOL air taxi has logged 300 test flights without incident over the past 20 months as it works toward type certification and commercial launch in 2028. At a briefing last week, executives made the case for the aircraft’s simple, wingless multicopter design—the reason SkyDrive is certifying the SD-05 in Japan as a special-class rotorcraft rather than in the powered-lift category most U.S. eVTOL developers use. |

The U.S. Navy assessed Swarm Aero’s Legion command-and-control software during its recent Fleet Experimentation exercise in Key West, Florida. The California-based start-up, which is developing large uncrewed air systems, reported on June 30 that the U.S. Navy’s 4th Fleet used the technology to coordinate multiple air and sea assets in a full find, fix, track, engage and assess process. |

Signature Aviation and advanced air mobility infrastructure developer UrbanV are working on plans to support regional air services with Electra Aero’s EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft. The three companies announced their partnership on Tuesday, saying they intend to combine vertiports with Signature’s global network of private aviation terminals. |
